Coach-Coachee-Manager (CCM) Alignment Meeting Toolkit

This document provides a simple overview of your upcoming Coach-Coachee-Manager (CCM) Alignment Meetings, designed to maximize your coaching experience.

What is a CCM Alignment Meeting?

A CCM Alignment Meeting brings together you (the coachee), your coach, and your manager. It's a focused discussion aimed at aligning your personal growth goals with the company's overall objectives for your coaching engagement. This is NOT a coaching session, but rather an alignment meeting, and nothing confidential from previous coaching sessions will be shared.

The primary purpose is to:

  • Help you align your personal growth goals with your company’s overall goals.
  • Allow your coach to understand how best to support you in achieving your goals.
  • Enable your manager to understand your development journey and provide the support you need.
  • Align on a clear action plan for your professional growth.

When Should CCM Meetings Be Scheduled?

You will have CCM Alignment Meetings twice during a 6-month program.

  • Initial Meeting: In Month 2, ideally after, but not contingent upon having had your 360 feedback debrief, and you have identified goals and begun to form an action plan with your coach.
  • Program Wrap-up: At the end of the coaching engagement to ensure continued progress and accountability.

Scheduling a CCM Meeting is easy and driven by you:

  1. Discuss with your Manager: Talk to your manager about your desire to schedule a CCM and agree upon a date/time when your coach has availability.
  2. Coordinate the Meeting: Book the agreed upon date/time as one of your 60-minute coaching sessions per the normal scheduling process on the AceUp platform or mobile app. The meeting will be held using your coach's video link (e.g., Zoom). You are responsible for sharing these details with your manager, informing them of the details, and adding them to the calendar invite. The meeting typically lasts 60 minutes.

What to Discuss in the Meeting

The discussion will focus on your professional growth goals and how they align with business objectives. You are in the drivers seat of the agenda, so come prepared with your action plan and goals of what you want to accomplish.  Some things to consider in preparation for this meeting:

  • Which of your current strengths, priorities, projects, or skills are you interested in working on?
  • Which skills, gaps, or areas for improvement are you most interested in developing?
  • What professional growth goal are you most interested in pursuing that allows you to improve your leadership skills?
  • What is your action plan for achieving this goal? What are the stages and the timeframe?
  • What kind of support do you need from your manager to achieve this goal?
  • What have you learned so far in coaching, and what are you currently working on?
  • What would be most supportive to you in reaching your goals?
  • What is something you have identified in coaching that you are still struggling with, and would like your manager’s insight or input on?
  • What is something you would like your manager to do differently as a result of your coaching work?

We do not suggest using this Meeting for the following purposes:

  • Mediating any conflicts between you, your manager, or another employee.
  • Performance improvement plan conversations.
  • Discussing significant company or organizational changes and related concerns.
Your coach will be present to listen and provide support, not to lead the discussion. This is a safe space for you to discuss your goals and how your manager can best support your development.
