New Client Setup Steps To Get A Coach

Congrats on embarking on investing in yourself through coaching! Here’s what you can expect during your AceUp onboarding process, along with some thoughts about how to enhance the experience.

Step-by-Step Next Steps

  1. You have just received a survey from AceUp, which asks you about the key areas you would like to receiving coaching on (core competencies), your role, and some company specific information. AceUp uses this survey to match you with 2 suggested coach matches based on their background and expertise in the core competencies you requested as well as experience coaching your role, your industry and your company's stage of development. We call this “coach pairing recommendations”. Please complete this survey asap so that we can get you matched with your coach pairing recommendations.
  2. 2 business days after you submit your completed questionnaire you will have an onboarding call with AceUp (this call will be scheduled when you receive your coach pairing questionnaire) where they will share information about your recommended coaches, and demo the AceUp platform where you'll be able to schedule 30-minute complimentary consultations with each coach to find the best fit for you. In the next section, we are including some suggested ways to help make these consultations as effective as possible.
  3. Enjoy your consultations!
  4. After you’ve had your consultations, simply choose which coach you feel like working with most. AceUp finds that 98% of the time, there’s a good fit in the initially suggested coaches. If for any reason neither coach feels like a good fit, that’s great too! Simply reach out to your AceUp customer success manager and ask for additional recommendations. If you can’t decide between the two coaches, we suggest simply starting with either one. You can always change later. We find it helps not to think too much about it. Go with your gut. It’s best to choose your coach within 24 hours of your last coach consultation.
  5. Book your first session with your coach! Enjoy! *Your AceUp customer success manager will share all the information regarding selecting your coach and scheduling through the platform.
  6. Lastly, please let your internal sponsor know when you’ve had your first session and your AceUp customer success manager will be checking in with you as well.

Suggestions For Having An Effective 30-minute Consultation

Before Consultation: Before going into a consultation, here are some things you might ask yourself:
  • “What am I hoping to get out of coaching?”
  • “How do I work best in learning and development situations with someone else — coach, teacher, counsel, or such?”
  • “What’s the most important thing for me get out of this consultation?”
During Consultation: Here are some suggestions for having an effective consultation:
  • First, enjoy the process of getting to know the coach, and having the coach get to know you.
  • Second, Be ready to share things about yourself like: where are you hoping to be professionally (and whole life) in three months, six months, a year, 3 years, 5 years, 10 years, end of life. What are your biggest challenges to getting there. How you see a coach helping you get you there.
  • Third, you may want to ask questions of the coach such as: How have you worked with someone like me? What have you found to be the best ways that your clients use coaching effectively?
  • Fourth, once you get off the call, if you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to send a message to the coach or reach out to AceUp.
