Understanding the Heatmap

This heatmap shows how well different teams are doing in 7 important areas. The scores come from the Team Compass Baseline and Checkpoint assessments. It helps to show where teams are doing well and where they need to improve.

Each row represents a different dimension of team performance. These dimensions, based on decades of research into team effectiveness, are critical areas that contribute to overall team performance. For dimension definitions, refer to the following article.

X-axis: Team Comparison Results

Each column shows results for a different team. Allowing for easy comparison across teams. The title case abbreviation is applied to the team name for the cleaned-up chart. Clicking a team name or column allows you to access the team report. In the detailed report, you can review dimension and indicator scores and track changes over time.  

Color coding

The color coding in this Heatmap reflects the effectiveness scores across dimensions of team performance. Use the Heatmap to identify areas of strength and opportunities for improvement within each team and across teams.

  • Highest: Indicates exceptional performance in this dimension, with the team demonstrating outstanding capabilities.
  • High: Suggests strong performance, with the team operating effectively in this dimension.
  • Mid: Reflects moderate performance, with a balance of strengths and areas needing improvement in this dimension.
  • Low: Highlights areas where the team is underperforming, indicating a need for targeted improvements.
  • Lowest: Shows significant underperformance, requiring immediate and substantial enhancements in this dimension.
